CANFree

AGES: 10+

The CANfree program focuses on developing athletes for competition by providing advanced training in moguls, slopestyle and all mountain skiing. These athletes participate (or are working towards) competition at the Provincial level. CANFree coaches have significant freestyle coaching experience and have top certifications under Canada’s Freestyle Coaching Program (CFSA). Athletes wishing to participate in CANfree must receive coach approval. If your athlete is not already a member of the CANfree team but would like to join, please connect with the CANfree parent liaison noting your athlete's name and the name of their coach from last season

Junior CANfree Development

Athletes on this team will work towards spinning in all 4 directions, sliding multiple rails sideways with a forwards and backwards exit, skiing a top-to-bottom mogul run with tricks in a clean and controlled manner and developing strong switch skiing skills. Athletes are also encouraged to begin training inverts (trampoline/airbag). Athletes in this program train two or three times weekly and are expected to attend most club competitions and camps through the year, including dryland training in the fall.

Senior CANfree Development

This is the highest level of training offered by EFSC. These athletes are refining their spins in all 4 directions and working on multiple rail tricks (270s on/off, swaps, etc.)., Those training in moguls will consistently ski clean top-to-bottoms runs in the mogul course while increasing the technically of their tricks. Senior Development athletes will also engage in invert training on snow. Athletes in this program are encouraged to train three times per week (although twice-weekly options are available), and are expected to attend most competitions and camps, including dryland training in the summer and fall.

Moguls

Athletes consistently navigate mogul terrain cleanly, while working to perform more advanced tricks off of jumps. Athletes will complete at least some training on Provincial level courses.

Slopestyle

Athletes will be challenged to master more advanced features and larger jumps, while increasing the technicality of the tricks performed.

All Mountain

CANfree athletes can ski all terrain on the mountain competently and confidently and will work to perform more advanced tricks using natural features.
